Sunnyside Dairy
Description:
Sunnyside Dairy is a 3rd generation farm where the current owner’s grandfather started with poultry and diversified cash crops. The farm began focusing predominantly on dairy in the mid-1960’s with 110 cows.
In 2009, the farm added a mixed plug flow anaerobic digester. Sunnyside’s take-away from the digester project thus far is that it “required patience and perseverance but the effort so far has been worth it” and that they would do the project all over again if they had to. Additionally they note that “five-finger waves from the neighbors when we spread digested manure on hay ground this summer were more welcome than fewer finger gestures we received in years past.”
