In 2012, Allen Farms/Titan 55 installed BIOFerm™ Energy Systems’ smallest anaerobic digester, specifically designed for operations with a limited organic waste stream. The digester’s construction represents a new effort to bring technology to small farms that was previously only available on a larger scale.
The Allen Farm’s biodigester is designed to process up to 2,000 tons of manure from the farm’s 135 dairy cows to create renewable biogas. It has an electric capacity of 64 kW and a thermal capacity of 101 kW. The average annual electricity production is 512,000 kWh.
